CIII:2026 China Industry AI Influence Index

In the knowledge system of AI, which Chinese industry holds the most discourse power?

When global users ask AI—"Which country is the future of new energy vehicles?" "Who leads global semiconductor technology?" "Where is the innovation center of artificial intelligence?"—the answers given by AI are shaping the world's perception of Chinese industries. This perception is not bought through advertising but earned through long-term, systematic, and authoritative information accumulation within AI's knowledge network.

The China Industry AI Influence Index (CIII) was created precisely to measure this "cognitive discourse power."

I. What Kind of Index Is This?

CIII is China's first industry-level discourse power evaluation system based on actual output data from major AI models.

It does not rely on statistical data or expert scoring. Instead, it directly "asks AI"—using a standardized method to send queries to 15 mainstream global AI models, recording how AI describes, evaluates, and recommends China's key industries, and generating an influence score for each industry in AI's cognitive world.

In short: It's not humans evaluating industries, but how AI "sees" Chinese industries.

II. Measuring Industry AI Discourse Power from Two Dimensions

CIII creates a three-dimensional "AI cognitive portrait" for each key industry from two core dimensions:

Discourse Power—How does AI describe this industry? Who defines the technical narrative?

This covers five basic indicators: breadth of industry mentions, depth of technical narrative, authority of information sources, positive semantic rate, and standard citation rate. The core question it answers is: When AI discusses this industry, whose arguments are cited? Whose standards are used? Whose narrative is presented?

Recommendation Priority—When AI is asked about industry choices, is China recommended first?

This covers three basic indicators: first recommendation rate, recommendation concentration, and comparative advantage strength. The core question it answers is: When global users seek industry advice from AI, does China's industry appear in the top recommendation position, or is it relegated to a lower position or even ignored?

III. Covering Six Key Industries, Aligned with National Strategy

The first edition of CIII evaluates six key industries:

• New Energy Vehicles: China has formed the world's largest production, sales, and technological innovation cluster.
• Semiconductors and Integrated Circuits: A core area of global technological competition and a strategic high ground for self-reliance.
• Biomedicine: A key track for innovative drug R&D capabilities and industrial chain security.
• Artificial Intelligence: China's AI industry scale and paper output rank among the top globally.
• High-End Equipment Manufacturing: Self-reliance in high-end manufacturing such as machine tools and aerospace.
• New Energy and Energy Storage: The core battleground for global energy transition under the dual-carbon goals.

In subsequent years, the index will expand to emerging fields such as the low-altitude economy, quantum information, and new materials, based on national strategy and industry maturity.

CIII's evaluation framework is highly aligned with national strategic discourse—echoing core strategies like "new quality productive forces," "manufacturing powerhouse," and "self-reliance"—providing quantitative references for the global perception of China's key industries.

IV. Who Is This Index For?

National Industry Policy Departments: To assess the discourse power of Chinese industries in the global AI ecosystem, identify weak industries needing enhanced international communication, and provide data-driven foundations for international communication strategies in industrial policies.

Industry Associations and Leading Enterprises: To monitor temporal changes in their industry's AI influence, benchmark against international competition tracks, and optimize industry narratives and GEO strategies.

International Trade and Investment Institutions: To evaluate "cognitive risk"—if an industry is negatively described or marginalized in AI, it may affect market confidence and investment flows.

The first evaluation of CIII shows:

New Energy Vehicles stand out as the most prominent industry across both discourse power and recommendation priority dimensions. When answering related questions, AI highly tends to cite them as global benchmark cases. Some Chinese new energy vehicle brands have formed a "cognitive parasitism" effect in AI—without citing their information, AI-generated answers would appear incomplete.

Artificial Intelligence has gained extremely high global attention due to the large model competition, with the proportion of positive narratives about China's AI industry steadily rising and the binding of open-source ecosystem labels increasingly strengthened.

Semiconductors and Integrated Circuits receive attention driven by both the "bottleneck" narrative and the self-breakthrough narrative. Positive and challenging narratives intertwine, and the stability of the industry's cognitive image warrants ongoing attention.
