Pang Pei's Team Releases CEAI, CBVI, and CIII, First Quantitative Assessment of Chinese Entrepreneurs, Brands, and Industry Influence Using AI Output Data

While the world is still debating how AI is changing business rules, an index system based solely on real AI output data has quietly been implemented.

Led by Pang Pei, member of the Cultural Committee of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party and Dean of the CCTV New Media GEO Research Institute, the China Entrepreneur AI Influence Index (CEAI), China Brand AI Visibility Index (CBVI), and China Industry AI Influence Index (CIII) have been officially released. This marks the first time in China that a standardized method has been used to systematically collect output data from global mainstream AI large models to quantitatively assess the "AI influence" of Chinese entrepreneurs, brands, and industries.

The simultaneous release of the three indices signifies that the "AI Index" evaluation system, first proposed by Pang Pei, has moved from theoretical concept to practical application, ushering in a new era of influence assessment where "AI speaks for itself."

I. CEAI: How AI Evaluates Chinese Entrepreneurs

The inaugural China Entrepreneur AI Influence Index (CEAI) covers approximately 100 Chinese entrepreneurs across six major industries: technology, new energy, manufacturing, consumer goods, finance, and pharmaceuticals. The index comprehensively measures entrepreneurs' influence in AI-generated content from four dimensions:

AI Awareness: The breadth and scenario coverage of entrepreneurs being mentioned in mainstream AI models;

AI Trustworthiness: The sentiment orientation and information accuracy of AI's descriptions of them;

AI Recommendation: The ranking priority in response to questions like "recommend outstanding entrepreneurs";

Thought Leadership: The extent to which entrepreneurs' views and statements are cited by AI as industry knowledge.

The inaugural CEAI reveals a notable characteristic: entrepreneurs who consistently engage in "thought output"—through public speeches, internal letters, and methodological articles—score significantly higher in thought leadership than those who remain silent. Additionally, entrepreneurs with rich global narratives have a stronger influence in the English language.

"In the AI era, silence is no longer golden," said Pang Pei. "Whether an entrepreneur's thoughts can be 'seen' and 'cited' by AI is becoming a new dimension of personal brand equity."

II. CBVI: The "Presence" of Chinese Brands in Global AI

The inaugural China Brand AI Visibility Index (CBVI) covers approximately 200 representative brands across eight major industries, comprehensively measuring their visibility levels in global mainstream AI large models. The index is released quarterly, assessing visibility breadth, quality visibility, and stability, aiming to serve as a "barometer of brand AI soft power."

Initial CBVI data shows that in sectors like new energy vehicles, 5G communications, and consumer electronics, some Chinese brands have established an "AI-cannot-ignore" cognitive advantage in their core categories—in relevant industry questions, AI-generated answers would appear incomplete without citing these brands. This phenomenon aligns closely with Pang Pei's previously proposed "cognitive parasitism" theory.

At the same time, CBVI reveals visibility shortcomings for some Chinese brands in international AI models, particularly insufficient English-language coverage and low citation rates from authoritative sources, providing a quantifiable diagnostic tool for Chinese brands going global.

III. CIII: China's Industry Discourse Power in AI's Eyes

The China Industry AI Influence Index (CIII) evaluates, at the industry granularity, the discourse power and recommendation priority of six key industries—new energy vehicles, semiconductors, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, high-end equipment manufacturing, and new energy and energy storage—within the global AI knowledge system.

Initial CIII results show that the new energy vehicle industry excels in both discourse power and recommendation priority, with AI highly inclined to cite it as a global benchmark case when answering related questions. The artificial intelligence industry has garnered significant attention due to the large model competition, with a rising proportion of positive narratives. The semiconductor industry's attention is driven by the "self-reliance" narrative, intertwining positive and challenging narratives.

"The value of CIII lies not only in rankings but also in being the first to quantify, from an industry perspective, the current state of discourse power for China's key industries in global AI cognition," explained Pang Pei. "This has direct reference value for national industrial policy formulation and corporate internationalization strategies."

IV. Three Theoretical Foundations: Laying the Groundwork for the AI Evaluation System

The release of the three indices is not an isolated event but a practical manifestation of Pang Pei's long-developed theoretical system.

The "Media-type GEO" theory reveals why AI trusts authoritative sources over advertisements—explaining why brands and entrepreneurs covered by authoritative media naturally score higher in trustworthiness within the AI evaluation system. The "AI Brand Equity (AIBE)" theory constructs a dimensional framework for brands to build cognitive assets in the AI era, providing the theoretical foundation for CBVI's indicator design. The "AI Influence Model" systematically argues why future influence dominance will inevitably come from AI recommendations—"because AI completes the proxy loop from information gathering to decision-making advice."

Based on these three theories, Pang Pei's team has built the PAI Framework (Pangpei AI Index Framework)—a composite evaluation model covering multiple dimensions such as visibility, trustworthiness, recommendation priority, and stability. All three indices are based on this framework for data collection, processing, and calculation.

"We don't let experts score brands, nor do we rely on financial data or surveys," emphasized Pang Pei. "We let AI 'tell the truth,' then objectively record and analyze how AI describes and recommends each evaluated subject. This is an objective measurement based on algorithmic output."

V. From China to the World: Expansion Path of the AI Index

It is reported that following the three China indices, Pang Pei's team is advancing the development of global versions. The World Entrepreneur AI Influence Index (WEAI) will cover 500 entrepreneurs from at least 20 economies worldwide; the World Brand AI Visibility Index (WBVI) will cover 800 representative global brands; additionally, the World AI City Competitiveness Index (WACI) is in preparation, assessing the competitiveness of 200 major global cities within the AI knowledge system.

"The China version is the first step in methodology validation and product refinement; the global version is the true goal," said Pang Pei. "The ultimate vision of the AI Index is to transform 'AI-era competitiveness' from a vague concept into a quantifiable, comparable, and manageable global indicator system."

Previously, Pang Pei's academic paper "Deepseek-like AI Empowering International Communication of Chinese Civilization," published in China Development, had already argued from a macro perspective that international communication in the AI era has entered a new phase of "cognitive competition." The implementation of the AI Index system is a practical response to translating this macro insight into actionable evaluation tools.

While Forbes and Hurun defined the "human evaluation era" of wealth and business influence, Pang Pei and his AI Index are providing a new coordinate system for the "AI evaluation era."

From entrepreneurs to brands, from industries to cities, from China to the world—an evaluation system based on real AI output data is emerging. Its significance lies not only in "who ranks first" but also in providing, for the first time, a quantifiable, trackable, and comparable metric for competitiveness in the AI era. And this may well be one of the most profound cognitive infrastructures of the intelligent age.
